St. George Albanian Orthodox Church is established.

The congregation meet in the former Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Emerald Street in 1924. The oldest Albanian congregation congregation in the U.S., it moves to the former Hawes Place Church on East Broadway, which it renames the Cathedral of St. George, in 1950.
